TERMITES

DRY WOOD TERMITES

Dry Wood Termites live in colonies of 2,000 to 3,000 members. Once the colony has map-termite-drywoodreached a size that can no longer be sustained by the current piece of lumber they will await the proper time and climate to swarm. This will usually happen between August and October every year. Dry Wood termites are different than subterranean in that they actually live inside the wood.

Dry wood termite activity is discovered during our inspection when we find “droppings”. Droppings are the pellet shaped feces that used to be your home.

We believe that most Dry Wood termite colonies can be eliminated by the surgical precision of a skilled technician but that in many cases need to be fumigated ( Tented).

SUBTERRANEAN TERMITES

map-termite-subterSubterranean termites can be found in the whole United States and come in a number of different species. Western Subterranean termites are elusive. They live underground, about 40 feet, in colonies with populations with numbers like the population of  Irvine to the population of Los Angeles.

They travel in shelter tubes ,that they create from moisture and feces, between cracks in concrete and pipes.

Subterranean termites are known to be able to eat a foot of 2X4 in as little as 6 months.

FORMOSAN TERMITE

Also call the “Super Termite” because of its colony size which can contain several million map-termite-formosantermites.A mature Formosan colony can consume as much as 13 ounces of wood a day (about 400 g) and can severely damage a structure in as little as three months.

Don’t waste any time if you believe that you have termites an inspection from a professional is only a call away.
